    Surviving Work

(rules as they come to me)

    1. If a meeting has a specified end time, leave at that time, even if the meeting isn't over.
    2. If a meeting does not have a specified end time, call the meeting convener and ask when the meeting will end. Leave at the specified end time.
    3. Bring something to work on in case the meeting starts late.

    waiting tables

    Tuesday, 30 November 2004 11:59 P GMT-07
Sometimes I still miss waiting tables. Yes, it's true. What could be better than being around food and socializing all day long? Oh, and going home with a bundle of cash? Of course, servers work their butts off and lots of customers are unpleasant an

The beautiful snow we got yesterday. The view out my front window is so perfect and pristine - the trees all have that frosted look they get when the snow clings to their bare branches. That the bizarre dream I had in which Lily got run over by a ska

    Wednesday, 10 November 2004 11:59 P GMT-07
In response to my statement that I was losing faith in our political system, Ben asks, "Are you looking out for yourself or for the U.S. citizens as a whole?" I believe that the legitimacy of a presidential election is an issue that we sho

    Response to Ben, part 1

    Sunday, 7 November 2004 11:59 P GMT-07
I'll respond to Ben's comments on my "Post-Election Hangover" one point at a time. Today, I'll deal with moving to Canada. Ben points out that Canadians pay higher taxes than Americans do, which I already knew. I don't mind paying higher ta

    post-election hangover

    Wednesday, 3 November 2004 11:59 P GMT-07
I haven't had a real hangover in quite some time (although I've had one recently enough to earn myself an NC-17 rating), but I swear, today I felt like I was trying to shake off about 16 shitty margaritas. My fog is starting to lift and I'm beginnin

    pre-election daze

    Monday, 1 November 2004 11:59 P GMT-07
The last time I was this anxious about an election was 1988. I'm in a pre-election daze, unable to fully concentrate on anything right now but the election. How long until we know who our next president is? I surveyed two of my classes and most stude
