    Surviving Work

(rules as they come to me)

    1. If a meeting has a specified end time, leave at that time, even if the meeting isn't over.
    2. If a meeting does not have a specified end time, call the meeting convener and ask when the meeting will end. Leave at the specified end time.
    3. Bring something to work on in case the meeting starts late.

    Thursday, 29 March 2007 7:00 P GMT-07
This is something everyone should be concerned about. Interesting that the Bush administration thinks corporations can be trusted to regulate themselves, but not institutions of higher education. How can a community college--a college with an open ad

    when information doesn't help

    Monday, 19 March 2007 7:03 P GMT-07
I’ve been watching the NYC weather forecasts for March 21-24 for the past week, checking each day what the forecast for those days is and trying to figure out how to pack accordingly, but the weather out there has been so crazy that I’m s

    10 Weird Things About Me

    Thursday, 15 March 2007 7:04 P GMT-07
10 Weird Things About Me (seen at New Kid): I am a slow eater. I am always the last person in a group to finish eating. Always. Even when I’m not talking at all. I completely lost my taste for spicy food after I got pregnant and have never rega

all I want to do is pay my bill

    Wednesday, 14 March 2007 7:05 P GMT-07
We have a home equity loan. Our last payment was due on Feb. 28 and I sent a check on Feb. 19. When I was preparing our taxes last weekend, I realized I had never received the form from the lender that says how much interest we paid in 2006. I went t

    timely feedback to students

    Wednesday, 7 March 2007 7:08 P GMT-07
I used to bust my ass to get graded papers back to students by the next class period. When I first started teaching, I taught MWF classes, so if students turned in papers on a Wednesday, they got them

    Tuesday, 6 March 2007 7:09 P GMT-07
I’ve just about finished commenting on two class’s worth of portfolios using audio comments. I recorded the comments using my ipod and a micromemo microphone.   The only serious obstacle I’ve encountered is actually getting t
